Removing Cell Phones from the ESD Network
Removing a Cell Phone from the ESD Network
The order of removing the phones is important:
Correct Order to Fully Remove Device Management from an iPhone (Meraki + ASM):
🔹 1. Remove the device from Meraki Systems Manager
Go to: Meraki Dashboard > Systems Manager > Devices
Find the iPhone
Unenroll it by selecting the device and clicking "Remove from Network" (or choose "Unenroll")
This removes MDM profiles and apps pushed by Meraki (if possible before wipe)
Log into Apple School Manager (ASM); under devices enter the Serial # of the phone
-Turn off the Activation Lock (THIS CANNOT BE UNDONE)
-Remove from the MDM by clicking the 3 dots and removing (do not yet release)
Then Wipe the Phone by going to General Setting and choosing Erase
Now go into Meraki and find the phone either by Serial # or Phone #.
Click on the 3 dots and remove from Meraki
Click on Edit and then choose to remove from this Network.
[At this point you can test that the Phone is no longer attached to our district by trying to setup and seeing if it asks for the DEP email credentials. If it does. Log in and set up. Then Wipe the Phone again.]
Go back into Apple school manager and release from Organization. (THIS CANNOT BE UNDONE)
Go into Verizon and Delete Phone (there may be Disconnect fees so say OK)
After the Phones are removed, we can recycle them in the Verizon App by going to:
choose Manage > Product portals > View all, then Device Recycling.
Or I have linked a working spreadsheet that you can use to submit the phones:
G:\Shared drives\IT\Verizon\Verizon Recycle Device Form worksheet.xlsx
Or they can be prepared for sale on GOVDeals.com with our ESD123 Credentials
